Foodies and fans of K-Pop rejoiced as South Korea’s largest fried chicken chain, NeNe Chicken announced its latest outlet opening in Avenue K, Kuala Lumpur and Plaza Merdeka Shopping Mall, Kuching. It is also a milestone for the Korean fried chicken chain as it marks the first ever NeNe Chicken restaurant in East Malaysia. In celebration with it's launch at Avenue K, NeNe Chicken will be giving out FREE fried chicken to first 50 customers on 6 August (Monday) starting from 11AM onwards. 

Both Avenue K and Plaza Merdeka were identified as strategic locations to serve customers in the area, as these locations are urban hubs catering to various requirements from retail, entertainment and dining.

Since opening its doors to its guest, NeNe Chicken has been delighting customers with its take on Korean fried chicken featuring a special blend of marinate, batter, and signature sauces. The chain challenged itself to create its own version of Crispy Chicken Rendang following the Masterchef saga, and went further to create the Nasi Lemak Crispy Chicken topped with an Onsen egg.

“We like to do things differently, and our ultimate goal is to make our guest happy. Each restaurant has really given us encouragement as we serve our customers with high quality food and great taste. Sarawak is an important milestone for us, and we are doing our best to expand as quickly as possible. We hope to serve even more customers across Malaysia soon.” said Managing Director of NeNe Chicken Malaysia, Raymond Wong. 

Since its inaugural launch, Malaysian fans have lined up and tasted its signature sauces, with most fans enjoying its “Freaking Hot” flavour. The flavour gained a lot of attention after NeNe Chicken’s first ever “Freaking Hot Challenge” that took place during the launch of its Starling outlet. Ever since then, many have also done the challenge with unique twist to the rules within friend and family sharing their gastronomy adventure on social media. 

To cater an even wider audience, NeNe Chicken has also taken the opportunity to introduce new side dishes such as NeNe Chicken Fingers, NeNe KimChesse Wrap, Sweet Potato Fries to complement its existing line-up.

NeNe Chicken continues the momentum with the launch of its new restaurant at The Starling. The new store is able to accommodate about 120 customers and has an outdoor seating area. Established in 1999, the Korean Fried Chicken chain has grown to one of the largest chains in Asia, with a presence in Singapore, Australia and Hong Kong. 

The fried chicken is prepared according to its secret recipe, with sauces, marinate and batter all fully imported from South Korea. 

 “We are happy with the reception of NeNe Chicken since our launch at Genting Highlands. Our focus now is on operations and execution as to ensure all our customers enjoy our products. Fans of fried chicken can further rejoice as Korea’s largest fried chicken chain, NeNe Chicken opens its first restaurant in Malaysia at Sky Avenue, Genting Highlands! This will be the fourth (4th) country in the world to have a NeNe Chicken restaurant after Australia, Singapore and Hong Kong.

Aiming to win over the hearts and stomachs of Malaysians, NeNe Chicken’s menu will have its famous wingettes and drummets in four (4) different flavours for customers to choose from, NeNe Burger and Kimchi Burger with a unique twist featuring charcoal buns and its signature Black Sesame soft serve ice cream. For the time being, the four (4) flavours on offer are Swicy, Original, Freaking Hot, Bulgogi with two (2) more flavours to be announced later.

Founded by Chul Ho Hyun (Chairman of NeNe Chicken Korea) in 1999, NeNe Chicken rise to become one of the favourite fried chicken chains was based on its all natural ingredients, fresh and wholesome tasting chicken. This philosophy has been replicated with great success in Australia, Singapore and Hong Kong.

While Sky Avenue will be the first NeNe Chicken restaurant in Malaysia, plans are underway to open more NeNe Chicken restaurants from 2018 to 2020.

“We will have a few more stores in 2018 if we can secure the right locations, the plan is to have 20 stores which includes East Malaysia by 2020. I am happy to announce that our next location will be at Starling Mall, Damansara Uptown and we hope to have that location operational by the first quarter of 2018.
